How does the break timing work?
Set your work hours, work days, and a break interval (30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes) in Settings. MyDeskBreak schedules notifications across that window — a morning nudge, breaks at your chosen interval, hydration check-ins between them, and a wind-down at the end of the day. The exercise you get rotates through body areas you haven't worked yet today.
Why didn't I get a notification?
Most common reasons: today isn't in your "work days" list (default is Mon–Fri), it's outside your work hours, or you haven't enabled Notifications in iOS Settings. Open Settings → Notifications inside MyDeskBreak and confirm both "Break reminders" and the system-level toggle are on. Focus modes are set to let MyDeskBreak through their passive filter, but a custom Focus filter that excludes apps can still block it.
Can I use it on weekends?
Yes — toggle Saturday and Sunday on under Settings → Work days. By default MyDeskBreak respects weekends and stays quiet, so it doesn't push you on days you're not at the desk.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Deleting the app from your home screen leaves your account intact — your profile, history, badges, and settings are synced to Skrap Ventures' cloud (via Firebase). Reinstalling and signing in brings everything back. To permanently delete your account and all data, use Settings → Delete Account inside the app.
Why does the app ask for Apple Health access?
Only if you turn on "Save to Apple Health" in Settings. When enabled, MyDeskBreak writes each completed break as an HKWorkout — it'll show up in your Fitness rings and workout history. The permission is write-only; we don't read anything from your Health data.
Does it work without an account?
Not currently — you need to sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password to use MyDeskBreak. Your account is what syncs your workout history, streak, and settings across devices, and gates the cloud backup so a reinstall doesn't wipe your progress.
How do I cancel my subscription?
MyDeskBreak is free during beta — no subscription to cancel yet. When paid plans launch, you'll manage and cancel through your Apple ID account settings (Settings app → your name → Subscriptions), same as any other iOS subscription. We can't cancel for you from inside the app — that's Apple's design.
What's the Sedentary Score?
A daily 0–100 number that builds as you complete breaks. Each break adds points toward 100, plus small bonuses for hitting your hydration goal, using all three positions (standing, seated, floor), trying a 60-second Quick Break, and rating an exercise. The ring on the Today screen shows your current score. Off-days (weekends/non-work days) hide the ring — nothing to score.
Why did the app suggest a stretch I can't do?
During onboarding you can list injuries (spine, knees, wrists, shoulders) and MyDeskBreak filters its exercise library to skip moves that would aggravate those areas. If a suggested move still doesn't work for you, tap the thumbs-down on the Done screen and we'll show it less. You can update your injury list anytime in Settings → Injury filters.
How do I add custom routines?
On the Done screen after a break, tap the heart icon to add that exercise to your favorites. Favorites then appear as quick-launch cards on the Today screen, so you can repeat the moves you like best. Full custom-routine building (your own sequences) is on our roadmap for a future release.
The app crashed or feels broken — what do I do?
Email support@mydeskbreak.com with a short description of what happened and what device you're on; we'll dig in. If it's a crash on launch, force-quit (swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then swipe MyDeskBreak up) and reopen. Your data is safely synced to the cloud, so nothing's lost.
Can I export my data?
Not as a self-service feature yet — it's on the roadmap. In the meantime, if you need a copy of your data (for GDPR/CCPA reasons or just curiosity), email privacy@mydeskbreak.com and we'll send it as JSON within ~7 days.
